A Longy Faculty Concert

Among Dad’s collection of cassette tapes, I found a tape of a faculty concert Mom performed with other teachers at Longy in 1971. It is the only recording I have of her playing, and, while I’m sorry I don’t have any solo recordings, I know that playing chamber music was a great joy for her.

On Tuesday, April 6, 1971, she performed this program with her colleagues Carol Epple on flute, Barbara Brewer on clarinet, and Joan Esch on cello.

Trio in D Major for Flute, Cello, and Piano – Haydn

Four Pieces for Clarinet and Piano – Alban Berg

Sonata for Flute and Piano – Walter Piston

Synchronisms No. 2 for Cello and electronic Sounds – Mario Davidovsky

Trio in A Minor for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano – Brahms

Thanks to John Sullivan who recorded the tape into his computer system and engineered the sound files using Abletron software!
