These photos come from the annotated scrapbooks that my Grandmother Brown made after her family re-settled in the USA. She was an avid photographer, but many of her originals were lost in the dislocations of wartime. Fortunately she had negatives and was able to reprint! Photos of classmates and teachers were in an old leather-covered album Mom kept. (Probably the one she received as a birthday present in 1939!) The photos of my parents in Massachusetts come from albums that they kept after their marriage.
I chose these photos out of many more to illustrate some important parts of my mother’s life and to accompany the written memoir I have composed.
